This handout discusses tick co-infection
with both the Lyme and anaplasma microorganisms, and describes
an in-office test that can quickly indicate active infections
based on the presence of antigen, regardless of the dog's
vaccination status. We also discuss the safety and efficacy
of Lyme vaccines and provide recommendations for prevention
of episodes of clinical Lyme arthritis, nephritis or carditis.
